Heart. And Soul.

The old sights, now in a world so free,
a new perspective is what I see.
My world has changed or is it just me?

Eyes closed or set wide open
There's only one movie in me to run
Memories of You my love, of our moments in the sun!

The dark of the bold beautiful night,
Or the bliss of the bright day's light,
In your shy eyes, they seemed perfectly right.

A look towards me or just a fleeting chance,
Or wait, was it a stolen glance?
I skipped a beat and my heart did a little dance...

I ask - My dear heart, pray tell me what did you learn?
It says little but tells that now it's its turn
And it's time to let the spark brightly burn!

My love. My soul. For You my heart - my special place.
Sigh! Just the thought of your beautiful face!
The calm gentle ocean that is your grace...

A victorius sign. I wonder, Is it our time?
Celebration of souls in a period so sublime!
A faint whisper I hear - it is time.
… I realize, it’s all because your eyes met mine...

Your eyes. Darn!

Scarlet

Stepping out of a zone sheltered,
I'm swept through shimmering dust - gold and red,
How do I not give in to this excitement instead?

Over the horizon crimson,
Towards of the end of reason,
Heart racing season after season;

I see confusing colors - yellow and maroon.
What awaits me - is it sunshine or the monsoon?
The deep end of the sea or is it the pristine lagoon?

A life carefully painted scarlet, darn it!
I face the tests of fires, all solved immaculate;
I see emotions - blue, green and violet.

The melodies, the violins, the orchestras played,
The lyrics in the background and the words carefully explained,
How do I know if the beautiful colours ever fade?

Promises of a love - less than three plus more,
Whispers of careless passion like never before
Lines and lines of poetry my heart thus pours.

Honey dripping out of it's comb - perfect and sweet;
The first rays of the sun on repeat;
I know today that I shall know no defeat.

I chance upon this sacred chance,
Of intertwined destinies, fates and life's plans!

Pray tell me - how can my confused soul not rejoice?

Phoenix

With mountains to climb, it is only in the depths that a person can discover strength, finding the light that shines our inner sun.
--

Blow upon blow to my raging chest,
the pushes of the cruel and the unjust,
Blood seething and a heart that would not rest.

A prayer to my unseen force,
Phoenix like poetry amongst relentless prose,
A fury within me, a passion grows.

As the walls of my inscrutable worlds fall
With me refusing to play ball
To the whims of fate, I defy to stand tall.

I pursued a punch, a jab, a cross.
I threw myself and everything else my soul could toss
Burn I would rather than be termed destiny's loss.

Is it my spirit or my back that they would break first?
Tears blood and dust,
What would it take to stop this cruel lust?

Time fleeting and having nothing to pawn.
Murmers of that the night getting darker, the light now gone.
Whatever hope within, I await my invincible dawn.

Blow on blow whilst I'm bound
I could but feel my unknown spirits around.
My bloody shackles, finally, dropped to the ground...

--
Dedicated to all who stand up and walk again. And again. And again.

May the phoenix be with you!

Infinite dreams

One leg folded, the other stretched,
I stared at the beautiful spread,
lying on the grass, of stars splendid.

Skimming through my warm hand
the evening dew lend their brand
to the happy loss of the day's demand.

What each breath said, I patiently heard.
Each moment to revere and understand
of the movement of the lights above and thoughts beyond.

A running star straying into view,
Wishes of wishes turning true,
of dreams my mind could construe.

Lost in the whims of time,
the experience so sublime,
the ecstasy reaching its prime.

I lay, facing endless sky
Endless thoughts of if I could ever fly
Over the ever so silver cirrus, so high.

Arms behind my spotless mind,
I stared long and far as I could find,
that beautiful pristine night, I simply dreamt myself behind.

Hero

One foot firmly in the ground
The other on the rock strong
He stared at the ocean around
Wondering if he’d put a foot wrong.

On the edge of a cliff he stood.
For the reasons he believed in blood,
the wind blowing against his face,
he thought about the flaws he could erase.

The intensity in his vision, sharp
He gazed on into the deep
Wishing to see his destination
He was getting back on his feet.

I watched from behind a tree
His every move
As far as I could see
I tried to perceive…

His will stronger than before
Continued staring into the ocean
But this time he was sure
About his life’s each and every turn.

I sat there behind the bush
Appreciating the determination
He was waiting to sail the wild again
And to drift into the sunlight alone…

A new world, a new perspective
He wanted everyone to see.
Something finally did I realize..

That he was none but me…

Angel

The memories are difficult to forget, the helplessness difficult to explainA loss is never justifiable.
--

She rose above, with grace
She looked around with an elegance;
I saw this beautiful face.

I caught just a glimpse, a glance,
My heart, but leaped in dance.
Was it her or was it chance?

The radiance beat the midnight moon,
A sting passed through, a harpoon
the moment, I felt, had come too soon.

No words said, but yet heard,
Serene and silent, the moment passed
A thousand questions my mind asked.

She vanished into a haze,
Like the morning mist at the harsh suns gaze
Memories of her I cannot erase

A drop rolled down my cheek
Am I human enough to cry, so meek?
Where can I find those answers I seek?

Through the hue, I tried to pursue
I called out - "My dear, where are you?"
A lonely whisper, I heard - "in you..."

--
In remembrance of a dear old lady who lived down the lane.

An everlasting smile

It is everlasting.
You can see it casting
a shadow on sadness.
It will make you smile for a while.
Away from the worldly madness.
To another of bliss.
It is that smile
that never fails to make gloom fade.
Do you agree
that it is as precious as jade?

--
I started off my poetry with a smile almost more than a decade ago and this is the same one you just read.

Before I leave, one more thing, hold that happy thought you have had in your head now. Yeah, now you can smile please. :)

Cheers!

Sea of melody

The shimmering waves lashed the sand.
We sat through the night on the shoreline,
trying to spot that distant land.

The melody, the weather, the company fine.
Fine sand slipping through our hands;
we watched the stars, brightly, shine.

We joined dots on the canvas,
spot coloured lights on the horizon.
We could never let those sands pass.

The silver we saw at that one glance!
Nothing in the world, will match
the silver on the gray waters' romance.

The shimmering waves and the shiny sparks
and we sat through the night on the sandy shores
as the wonderful hunter and his dear friends watched our backs...

Edit:"The Hunter is not whom you may think him to be and You shall see only what You want to See...".

Drop in a comment if u did figure out what I'm talking about!

Edit 2:  I intended the poem to be cheery. So I edit the last line to more reflect that.

The Winners Race

Left my abode in a hurry;
to be a winner.
To be the first one;
in the Sun's slim shimmer.

Friends followed on my heels.
With the same hope, of hope
of victory, of successes
awaiting us in the journey therefore...

I braved the wind.
We pushed ahead farther.
Leaving fear, we rushed ahead
with all the speed we could garner...

I could see a million faces,
looking upwards; from across the line.
Amidst their beautiful smiles,
the surroundings and the race felt simply fine.

In a hurry we left our abode,
In smell of victory...
To be the first ones,
To reach our destinations.

Destination reached, we were finally victorious.
True winners. For we were the first.
The first snow flakes - to hit
the little kids' outstretched hands...

Shades Of Gray

The rushes of my brushes,
filled the canvas with shades of gray.
The strokes could convey,
what the heart had to say...

So cold, so beautiful,
the dark clouds of the rain...
The silver droplets had just
washed away all of my pain...

I sat there blissful
to complete my work of art...
I had to compete with the rain
to listen to the beats of my heart...

Through the drizzle I continued;
Each rush made the canvas fuller..
I continued with the music the rain played...
The droplets adding to the color...

I sat there on the benches
admiring my work of my art...
Joy of the drizzle fading and
ecstasy the experience had brought...

The sun shone through the clouds
revealing the hidden...
I sat there again,
to pour my thoughts...

The rushes of my brushes
filled the sky with blue...
The day with its blushes
felt completely true...

The King Of Hearts

He walked through fields,
through cities far and beyond,
without sword nor shield.
He cared for no wealth nor diamond.

He held inside him no fear,
in the fight of the clubs were none.
None to match him in war,
he walked proud in the sun.

All through strides, spades and shades,
he was the Jack of all trades
and the Master of many...
His charm could easily impress any...

For rich or for poor, for old or young
He remained an old song sung
His victories were beyond battles or wars...
For he was none...
but the King of Hearts...

“In a pack of cards there are kings... but then folks remember... there's only one who can ever be called the king - the King of Hearts.”

The Gladiator

Riding on our horses,
we swept through the battlefield,
Thinking of the causes
this battle would yield.

With each slash of the blade,
ripping apart the enemy.
Why did the idea fade
that mercy could be shown upon any?

With victory in our sight
It made me wonder
If we were the wrong or the right,
the life we had plundered

It dawned upon me bright -
Above the conflicts of the mind
It mattered not, to be wrong or right.
All that had to be left behind.

The battle won, we fight for the war.
A war that takes place not on the field,
but in hearts of the people set afar.
So as to overcome what their minds shield.

The day the war is won
everything would be bright.
Because what we had now done
would be right...

Absurd Thoughts

Isn’t it strange?
Still a mystery,
That as we pass each minute,
We are recorded in history.

How the years just flyby,
It’s still a mystery,
Having gotten so far,
a living testimony,
That’s what we are.

The days we had,
the pranks we played…
I’m holding onto
these memories forever.

Wish my reveries
could take us to places
where the skies always blue,
and the fields swaying to the flow

Wish we could relive those moments,
And relish those joys once again.
Wish we could go back in history.
But, isn't life a mystery?
